ABOUT ME

I'm no hero. I didn't need to be the one to fix a family history. I was blessed to be born into a family with a father and mother who sacrificed their own priorities to make their family work. All I had to do was not mess up.

Since I didn't have too rough of a time, I figured anyone who grew up in a tough situation ought to grow up, get over it and do it right when they started a family.

I found out it's not that easy.

Over the years, I listened to people's stories of horrendous childhoods. All of them swore they would do better for their own families someday, but most seemed to fall into the familiar pattern of destructive behaviors. A few of these men and women now have families which work very well. I wondered how these few managed to end what seemed to be their fate and lead their families into a new direction.

I asked them to share how they did it with you. Click on the HEROES tab above to read their stories. Each month I'll post a new hero.
